Perseverence!

March 16, 2017

Hello Beautiful~

Have YOU ever set your mind to accomplish something…perhaps that “goal” you have been talking about completing for the past several months? You know, that “thing… (fill in the blank)” that has been weighing on the back of your mind every hour, day and week…the “thing” you dread.

Well, I know you have all the best intentions in the world to get “it” done, finished, completed so you can move on to something easier, more fun and enjoyable. But every time you try to tackle “it” you find yourself being easily distracted by (choose your interruption of choice) social media, extreme hunger or thirst, sleepiness, disinterest or by those sweetie pies that live with you in your home. You know, the ones that call you mama or honey. And even though it is much easier to blame everyone and everything else, YOU know in your heart who the real culprit of distraction is…yes, you guessed it…YOURSELF.

Well, if this is hitting home, then YOU are not alone! Let’s get encouraged together. The word that comes to mind is: PERSEVERANCE. Meaning, steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. It is persistence, tenacity, determination, steadfastness and my favorite STAYING POWER. Or like we have heard “stick-to-itivesness”.

The Apostle Paul penned in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” He knew the importance of perseverance through trials, tests and tribulations. He was grounded in the truth that the Greater One lived inside of Him, Jesus Christ. He had learned in whatever situation to be content, no matter if he was brought low, or was in a season of abounding. In every circumstance, in abundance, in need he persevered because he knew he could do all things with the staying power of the Lord!

Paul went through many hardships and sufferings, but he never stopped. He finished his goal. He ran his race. He persevered. He did not allow himself to be distracted or taken off of course. He suffered greatly in his ministry for Christ’s sake. He was beaten, lashed on his back, stoned, shipwrecked three times, in the open sea a night and a day, in danger from rivers, robbers, from his own people, from Gentiles, in the city, in the wilderness, at sea, from false brothers, in toil and hardship, through many sleepless nights, in hunger and in thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure. And apart from other things, there was the daily pressure on him of his anxiety for all the churches. (2 Corinthians 11:23-28.)

BUT Paul persevered. He kept on the course. He completed ALL that the Lord had commissioned and asked him to do. And through these unpleasant distractions, he wrote many books of the New Testament.

If that didn’t challenge you to complete your “task” then I don’t know what will! I encourage you TODAY to set your mind to finish that “thing”. Remember, as a Believer, you have the Greatest Staying POWER the Holy Spirit living on the inside of you. And you have the promise that you CAN do all things through Christ who strengthens you!

You can do this!

Much Love,

Jana
